Music - My Top Playlists

As with many things in life, music is something that may come and go in phases. We may have a phase of loving all country music or all pop music and never turning off the Top Hits station, or maybe we get into the Classic Rock Hits phase. Sometimes, we want a blend of it all so then we go from listening to one radio station to making a playlist of just our favorite songs. Then, you might listen to some throwbacks and kick yourself for ever forgetting those songs existed.

Working from home has presented some newer challenges. In an office, there’s the sound of other’s talking, phones ringing, fax machines, and printers, plus you can turn to your coworkers for a quick chat, or talk to others as they pass by. You go into the cafe and there’s usually some radio station playing and lots of chatter as people mingle during lunch hour. When you’re home….it’s you, yourself, and the walls surrounding your office space, and maybe your dog barking at some random thing outside of the window a time or two or your cat meowing for attention. While I used to love being in the office because I felt super productive even with how busy it was, and i loved the social atmosphere, I was recently back in an office environment for onsite training for a new job I started and realized how distracting it was for me. This could also have something to do with the fact that I have sensitivities to light and sound due to my brain tumor and brain surgeries and need my space to be more quiet in order to focus due to the cognitive deficits from my brain injuries. However, I still like to have a little background noise every now and again when I’m at home, because the emptiness and quiet of being alone all the time can become depressing.

Music is also something that I use as an outlet to channel my energy and my moods when I am feeling some kind of way. Whether I am happy, sad, angry, depressed, anxious, tired, etc. and My playlists often reflect a blend of my emotions, never just one emotion.

Today, I’m sharing my Spotify playlist with you that has my current favorite songs that I listen to no matter what I am doing - driving, cooking, cleaning, going for a walk, etc. - or how I am feeling. I’m also sharing links to some of my favorite instrumental soundtrack playlists from Spotify that are meant to promote focus while working or studying, relaxation if you are trying to wind down, or help you wake up and get energized for your day.
